Klipspringer (Oreotragus oreotragus)

Overview
The klipspringer is a small, sturdy antelope known for its excellent camouflage in rocky terrains. Standing at just 43-60 cm (17-24 in) at the shoulder and weighing 8-18 kg (18-40 lb), its yellowish-gray to reddish-brown coat blends perfectly with its environment. The short, spiky horns typically measure 7.5-9 cm (3-3.5 in).

Behaviour & Social Structure
Primarily nocturnal, the klipspringer is active during the night and rests during the day. Unlike other antelopes, it forms long-term, monogamous pair bonds, with mates staying within 5 meters (16 ft) of each other. Males defend territories ranging from 7.5 to 49 hectares (19-121 acres) where they live with their partners and offspring.
