Blue Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus)

Overview
The blue wildebeest is a muscular antelope with a distinctive broad shoulder and robust muzzle. Their coat colour ranges from deep slate or bluish-Gray to light Gray or brown, with young wildebeests born tawny brown.

Key Features:
Size: 170–240 cm (67–94 in) in body length, and 115–145 cm (45–57 in) at the shoulder.

Weight: Males up to 290 kg (640 lb), females around 260 kg (570 lb).

Horns: Males have long, curved horns up to 83 cm (33 in), while females’ horns are shorter (30–40 cm or 12–16 in).

Tail: Long black tail, 60–100 cm (24–39 in) in length.

Behaviour:
Activity: Mostly active during the morning and late afternoon, resting during the hottest parts of the day.

Speed: Can run up to 80 km/h (50 mph) when fleeing danger.

Social Structure: Males form bachelor herds, while females and young move in loose aggregations.

Lifespan: Around 20 years in the wild, 21 years in captivity.

Habitat: Found in open plains and grasslands across sub-Saharan Africa, often in large herds.
